God's will

Interestingly, I have come across similar themes after I have been turned down from a part-time job that I wanted badly. The themes are God's will, listen, teach, etc. I was so disappointed to the extent that I was thinking I was not good enough to be hired as they took another candidate. However, after a few days of calming down and coming before the Lord, I am convicted that my worth and identity do not determine by any external factors but what is found in Christ. I have not felt so disappointed for a long long time. What a year to start off with! Even though I don't see the full picture, I will trust His faithfulness.

Few verses that I came across:

Psalm 143:10
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

Psalm 142:7
Set me free from my prison, that I may praise your name.
Then the righteous will gather about me because of your goodness to me.

Isaiah 48:17-18
This is what the LORD says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
“I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you,
who directs you in the way you should go.
If only you had paid attention to my commands,
your peace would have been like a river,
your well-being like the waves of the sea.

What a blessed assurance of His goodness and faithfulness for teaching me the right way to go according to His will IF I pay attention to His Word.

“Thy Way, Not Mine”

“Thy way, not mine, O Lord,
However dark it be!
Lead me by thine own hand,
Choose out the path for me.

Smooth let it be or rough,
It will be still the best;
Winding or straight, it leads
Right onward to thy rest.

I dare not choose my lot;
I would not, if I might;
Choose thou for me, my God;
So shall I walk aright.

The kingdom that I seek
Is thine; so let the way
That leads to it be thine;
Else I must surely stray.

Take thou my cup, and it
With joy or sorrow fill,
As best to thee may seem;
Choose thou my good and ill.

Choose thou for me my friends,
My sickness or my health;
Choose thou my cares for me,
My poverty or wealth.

Not mine, not mine the choice,
In things or great or small;
Be thou my guide, my strength,
My wisdom, and my all!”

Horatius Bonar (1808-1889)

I commit my plans into Your hand, O God. Bring to past only if they align with your will. Teach me to do your will! Amen.
