2010 CNY 新年蒙恩

This year CNY will not be the same for me... I have never celebrated a CNY without any family members around. When I was in Canada, I had my aunt and family around. Being in this foreign land, I was reminded of the situation of those immigrants in the Bible, such as Abraham had to leave his comfort zone to seek out for the Promised land and Ruth, the Moabitess, left her own country and followed her MIL, Naomi. Even though the festive season makes me misses home and family, I am truly grateful for the body of Christ.

Here are some of the CNY stuff being displayed in the Asian Store and its deco.

I did not appreciate Nian Gao so much when I was in KK. I decided to treat myself with Nian Gao here this year and so I made both the "baked" & "steamed" version of Nian Gao. To my surprise, they ain't hard to make at all.. If I didn't step out of my comfort zone, I would never have to try that and discover that I could make them! I concluded that it is not a bad thing to leave my comfort zone... and I believe so for you.. hehe..

BAKED ones....

2nd attempt (improvised.. with raisins.. because I needed to bring it to the Jewish Congregation as we are celebrating the New Year for Trees (Tu Bish'Vat)
